EARN A SPOT AT THE IOWA STATE FAIR

New Grimes, IA based restaurant will be serving their fan-favorite lobster roll at the new and improved, air conditioned Oman Family Youth Inn

GRIMES, IOWA (July 31st, 2023) – Destination Grille will be the newest official vendor at the Iowa State Fair in 2023 after only being open for just over a year

The group was initially asked to serve as the on-site caterer, providing meals to the 4H and FFA attendees at the Oman Family Youth Inn, but they saw an opportunity to also serve the public. With approval from the fair, Destination Grille will now be catering and serving their famous lobster roll, alongside other D|G favorites, at one of the only air conditioned locations offering food on the fairgrounds.

Based in Grimes, Iowa, Destination Grille is locally-owned and operates out of their 20,000 sq. ft. restaurant and event space. After recently signing a deal to operate concessions at the brand new GrimesPlex, they continue to expand their operations to provide their one-of-a-kind offerings to the Central Iowa community, with the Iowa State Fair being their next endeavor.

"We have an amazing team that is not afraid to take risks and joining the Iowa State Fair shows just that. We can’t wait to show the public what we’re capable of with our food and provide a great new option to attendees,” General Manager Jonnann Benedict said. “At the end of the day, we are beyond ecstatic to bring the D|G experience to the fair and to be part of the biggest event in our state."

Destination Grille will be located at the Oman Family Youth Inn directly behind the cattle barns, on the southeast side of the fairgrounds. They will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily to the 4H and FFA programs, as well as a small array of D|G classics to the public including customer favorites such as the lobster roll, ahi lettuce wraps, bao buns, and truffle fries.

Benedict hopes attendees will make their way over to the Youth Inn during their time at the fair this year.

“While the Youth Inn isn’t central on the fairgrounds, it’s an amazing facility that shouldn’t be looked over. We hope people will take some time to cool off from the heat and enjoy a great meal from us in the air conditioning and maybe even snap a picture with our mascot Larry the Lobster,” Bennedict said.

Destination Grille will be open daily throughout the entirety of the Iowa State Fair serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and are committing 10% of sales profit to be donated to the FFA/FH Foundation.
